has a rich syncretic tradation been benevolently cultivated by
its liberal and secular rulers. This can be witnessed in the presence
of houses of prayer of every religion here. One of the holitest
places for Sikhs and also has one of the finest mosques in North
India are here. Small Churches hold regular masses. It is a credit
to the liberality and secularism of the ruler that one of the
most costly and remarkable buildings of the city is a "House
of God". The Juma Masjid or Moorish mosque which is a replica
of the Qutbya Mosque in the Moroccan capital Marakesh. A French
Architect, Monsieur M Manteaux, designed it and the construction
started in 927. Three years and some six lakhs of rupees later,
mosque was completed.
The
sanctity of the little town of Sultanpur Lodhi on the banks of
the Bein rivulet in Kapurthala district is unrivaled. Legend and
tradation has it that it was here, on the banks of the Bein rivulet
in Sultanpur Lodhi, where the first Guru of the Sikh faith Guru
Nanak Dev ji sspent fourteen years of his life, attained enlightenment,
meditating under the canopy of a Ber Tree which is still extant.
"The Mool Mantra" or divine Prayer is said to have been
intoned by Guru Nanak DEv under this tree. Bhora Sahib or the
underground chamber is another place thronged by devotees every
year.

in a Town known Kasur, District Lahore, of Punjab province of the undivided
India . Being a Hindu his date of birth was registered in Bikrami Era.
So according to the available records Shri Bawa Lal Dayal Ji Maharaj
born on the DOOJ of Shukla Paksh, Magh Month of Bikrami Samat of 1412.
He belongs to Kshatri Varn.

Near
Kapurthala's southern border, the township of Sultanpur Lodhi
is amongest the most sacred Sikh pilgrimage sites. It was here
that the founder of Sikhism Guru Nanak sahib, lived for 14 years,
and here that he gained enlightenment in 1499 while bathing in
the bein rivulet, also known as Babe di Nadi. Sulatnpur Lodhi's
most well known Gurdwara Ber Sahib, where Guru Nanak sahib meditated
for 14 years. The Ber tree here is still extant. The Bein's tree-lined
banks and calm waters are an ideal location for serene meditation.
Sultanpur
Lodhi and its surroundings bear historical testimony to the life
and times of Guru Nanak Sahib. Several Gurdwaras commemorating
the various facets of Guru Nanak sahib's life dot this holy Town.
From Sultanpur Lodhi, pilgrims and tourists can chart a circuit
through gurdwaras of Goindwal, Khadur Sahib, Tarn Taran and Amritsar.
Visitors may also like to drive to Nur Mahal, about 35 Km from
Sultanpur Lodhi and see the site of the enchanting ruins of the
medieval Dakhni Sarai.

Ber Sahib situated on the banks of the holy Bein is where Guru
Nanak Sahib entered the Bein and remained in its waters for 3
days. The Gurdwara still has the Ber Tree under Guru sahib meditated
for 14 years. The Gurdwara is a three-storeyed building constructed
by Maharaja jagatjit Singh in the late nineteen thirties.

According
to a Janamsakhi, when Guru Nanak sahib declared that was no difference
between a Hindu and a Muslim, the local Nawab persuaded him to
join the congregation. While offering namaaz, Guru Nanak told
the Nawab that the Nawab himself was not fully immersed in his
devotion and that he was infact thinking all the while about buying
horses from Kabul, while the Qazi was thinking of his newborn
Colt. Both were ashamed to hear this. Gurdwara Antaratma Sahib
marks the site of the Mosque where this incident took place and
the Gateway is part of the original structure of the Mosque.

Bebe Nanaki is near Gurdwara Ber Sahib. It commemorates the house
where Bhai Jai Ram and Bebe Nanki, sister of Guru Nanak Sahib
lived. Some say that the Gurdwara does not stand exactly on the
site of Bebe Nanaki's house.

from Gurdwara Ber Sahib.It is from here that Guru Nanak sahib
had re-emerged after his immersion in the Bein for three days.

Hatt Sahib stands on the site of the Modikhana where Guru Nanak
used to work. A set of 13 polished stones which he used as Weights
have been kept here. The Gurdwara has a simple rectangular hall
with a golden Dome.

Kothri Sahib enrishes a cell in which Guru Nanak Sahib was imprisoned
by the Nawab. The Gurdwara is covered with grey Marbles slabs,
and is situated in a zig-zagging narrow lane of Sultanpur Lodhi.
